A lot of people wonder about how long a Chapter 7 case takes, so here is a recent case history.
Case filed on June 30, 2022. The Court Trustee conducted the Meeting of Creditors on August 22, 2022. No creditors appeared and the Trustee asked questions which took about 10 minutes. The meeting was conducted by telephone, given that all Chapter 7 cases are conducted now by telephone instead of being in person.
The Trustee filed the Report of No Distribution August 26, 2022. This signifies that the Trustee will make no further inquiries into the case, and that the Trustee has sufficiently reviewed the finances of the Debtor.
The Court issued the discharge order on October 26, 2022. Client was able to wipe out $45,000 in older IRS tax debt and $4,000 in credit card debt. He retained his Ford F-150 truck and is continuing to make his loan payments.
As of November 1, 2022, his TransUnion credit score was 664 and his Equifax credit score was 684.
